Our newest member, Bob Guay gave his "Classification Talk" this morning,
Bob was raised in Kittery, attended Kittery schools, and went to college in Maine. He married his high school sweet heart. After school he worked for a while at a local firm until they moved out of state, then he went to the Shipyard to keep his family in the area. Bob has been a very active volunteer, first with the JayCees, then with a number of town committees and boards, including the KCC. They started a kids basketball program at the KCC and it expanded into travel teams. After retiring from Engineering management at the Shipyard he worked for a couple of different contractors, all local. With a large family of children and grandchildren in the area, they have a life-long commitment here and we are very happy to have Bob decide to continue his volunteer work in the community as a member of Rotary.
Last week we were called upon to make another delivery of crutches, walkers, and canes from the Kittery Lions Club to the collection point for the District 7780 program in support of Crutches 4 Africa, run by Rotarian Dennis Robillard. The local Lions Club collects and loans out health care items of all sorts. For several years , when they get a surplus of mobility devices, they make them available to the Rotary Program. Pam and Andy have participated in several container packing events as the District has shipped over a dozen shipping containers fullcontainers in past few years.
