This month's International Cafe included a very welcome report on a Rotary International Project supported by our Club. A Human Milk bank in India funded by a Global grant we participated in two years ago is operating successfully with over 1800 women contributing todate
In the 2021-2022 Rotary Year when Samik Roy was Club president, and the Rotary International President came from the same region of India as Samik's family, we had the opportunity to support establishment of a Human Milk Bank at the Vithal Institute of Child Health, Dharwad, India. The International Grant addressed women and children's health directly as it would provide a much more nutritious source of milk in lieu of artificial substitutes for mother's in need. At the May 11 District 7780 International Cafe, Dr. Paliavi Deshpande reported that in the two years that the Bank has been open, more than 1800 women have donated milk, over 1200 infants have benefited as a result..
The pictures below show the unveiling of the plaque at the Hospital, at the opening in June 2022.
