Our guests at our May 6, 2025 meeing were Lisa Linehan and Nancy Colbert Puff from the Kittery Land Trust. Lisa is the Executive Director and Nancy is the President of the board. With Lisa speaking and Nancy providing the slide, we were given a good overiew of what Kittery Land Trust does in our community.
Lisa explained that in their efforts to protect the land, Kittery Land Trust (KLT) presently has 1052 acres of land that they either own or have conservation easements on. Some of these are open to the public and have walking trails.

Besides efforts to conserve the land, KLT is also in involved in environmental education. They partner with the Kittery School District with several programs including their six-week Farm to School Program for sixth graders at Shapleigh School. They also have the Muddy Boots Club for children of 5 years and younger. They also donate food from their Nooney Farm property to several area food pantries. Last year they donated 7,500 pounds of produce.
KLT was names as Kittery's Business of the Year and Volunteer of the Year in 2024 by the York Regional Chamber of Commerce and as 2023's Business Friend of the Year by the Maine School Board Association.
