Students of the month for May, 2025 were Sawyer Alex from Shapleigh School and Brooklyn Boisvert from Traip Academy. And, along with them, we also had Myles Seckler, a previous student of the month back to give us an update on his most recent activities.

Sawyer Alex

Sawyer's teacher Emily Cavaliere started her comments about him by describing him as an "All around super star." From Ms. Cavaliere's comments and those of some of his other teachers, we learned that he is positive and lifts everyone else up. He's enthusiastic and gets pumped up about learning. Along with his scholastic accumen, he's also a talented artist.

Sawyer, a.k.a. Soy, Soy Bean, or Bean is also very determined. His determination was shown in two instances. The first is when he wanted to take an advanced math class, but did not have the necessary grades to qualify, and the second where he set a goal to be student of the month. In both cases he rose to the occasion and did what was necessary to attain his goals. Sawyer also loves cabybaras, the world's largest rodent, and recently got to see one live.

Brooklyn Boisvert

Brooklyn unfortunately could not be with us, but Traip Academy Principal Jane Durgin brought comments from herself and from Brooklyn's teachers. She told us that Brooklyn was a thinker, a processor, mature, and makes good decisions. She's also attentive, curious and kind. Brooklyn is taking training to be a nurse at the Sanford Regional Technical Center. She has worked as a camp counselor with the Kittery Community Center. Ms. Durgin summed up Brooklyn as "a shining star."

Myles Seckler

Myles, who was a student of the month in February, was here to tell us about his representing Traip Academy and the Sanford Regional Technical Center (SRTC) at the National SkillsUSA competition in Atlanta later this month. He was accompanied by SRTC teacher Tim Fecteau. Myles competed in the Maine state competition and is now off to the nationals. He will be competing in the Technical Drafting Competition.

To help out in their fund-raising to defray expenses for the competion, we presented Myles with a check for $200. We wish Myles and the other students all the best in their competion.
