Megan Keil is a Rotarian and a RPCV (Returned Peace Corp Volunteer), very much a dynamic representative of the official partnership between Rotary International and the Peace Corp. On December 3. Megan gave a a one hour brief on the Peace Corp and the Rotary partnership, in 20 minutes - conveying a lot of information in a very concentrated exchange.
Megan graduated from college and was tutoring at the time she became interested in the Peace Corp. She signed up for the 27 month program, and after her training was sent to Tanzania for her two year assignment. She enjoyed the program so much she stayed on for additional time after her two years were over. Upon return to the States she wanted to continue service and discovered Rotary and the Dover Rotary Club. She is a recruiter for the Peace Corp and she also talks to groups, including students about her experiences and the opportunities to do overseas service work.
There are two levels that Peace Corp personnel serve, the 2 year plus training program which has volunteers from all ages but the average is in the mid 20's; and a short term, roughly 6 months assignment, where specific experience is needed and requested by the overseas community ~  and the average volunteer age is over 40. There are also virtual projects where the requested expertise can be provided remotely from the volunteer's home or office.

Rotary International and the Peace Corp have a written Memorandum of Understanding, making their partnership an official one. Rotarians and Rotary Clubs can get involved supporting projects that the Peace Corp is also supporting and the Peace Corp may reach out seeking Rotary involvement or support for a project in the community which the Peace Corp is working. Megan also emphazized that returning Peace Corp volunteers are excellent sources of information on the areas they were assigned and great potential Rotarians, as illustrated by her own example.

Megan is an excellent presenter and delivered a great deal of information in a relatively short time.

We asked Megan to sign a book to be presented to the schools libraries in her name
